Dr. Ahmed Al-Riyami,  MD, FRCPC, FACC

Dr. Ahmed Al-Riyami, MD, FRCPC, FACC

Dr. Ahmed Al-Riyami is a Royal College Fellow, specializing in Internal Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. Dr. Al-Riyami subsequently completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Toronto, as well as an interventional cardiology fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Dr. Al-Riyami’s clinical interests include general and interventional cardiology, with a focus on sports cardiology. He is involved in training medical students and residents at the university of Toronto and Sultan Qaboos University. Dr. Al-Riyami is a member of multiple professional and hospital committees with different administrative and clinical duties, including a role as an examiner for the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).

Dr. Ali Akram,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Akram graduated from the prestigious King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He then went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency and was Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at State University of New York – Upstate Medical University. He then completed his training in Cardiovascular Disease from Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Health Systems in Pennsylvania with additional emphasis on Multi Modality Cardiac Imaging.

He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography and Internal Medicine. Dr Akram is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Dr Akram is fluent in English, Urdu/Hindi and Punjabi.

Dr. Aman Mundi, MD, FACC

Dr. Aman Mundi received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 2006, where he graduated on the Dean’s Honor list. He went on to complete both his residency in Internal Medicine, serving as Chief Resident, and fellowship in Cardiology at Louisiana State University.

A personable, patient-centric professional with a tireless work ethic, Dr. Mundi has been serving his community for several years prior to joining WELL Health Diagnostic Centres (Previously MyHealth Centre). He has developed a reputation for ensuring his patients receive the utmost attention in their cardiac care. His joy for teaching others has led him to give several lectures regarding appropriate cardiac testing.

His clinical interests include primary prevention of heart disease, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease and heart failure. Over the last few years he has been a co-investigator for numerous research studies on coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation and heart failure, and has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Arsh Gupta, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Arsh Gupta is American board certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear cardiology and Echocardiography and board eligible in Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College. He completed his Internal Medicine, serving as chief resident, and Cardiovascular disease fellowship in NYC at Health + Hospitals/Coney Island Hospital. His interests are broad in the area of Cardiology and he is focused on preventative medicine and non-invasive testing.

Dr. Atul Jaidka, MD FRCPC

Dr. Atul Jaidka obtained his medical degree from Queen’s University and completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at Western University. During his training, he was the Chief Internal Medicine Resident and published in the areas of education and valvular heart disease. Subsequently, he completed advanced training in adult echocardiography at Toronto General Hospital (transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiography) and Nuclear Cardiology at Toronto Western Hospital. Dr. Jaidka is a staff cardiologist at Unity Health – St. Joseph’s Hospital.

His clinical interests include preventative cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and valvular heart disease. He is also a passionate educator who co-runs a Cardiology website and curriculum in partnership with Western University.

Dr. Delfin Rodriguez,  MD, FRCPC, FAHA

Dr. Delfin Rodriguez has been a cardiologist for 21 years. Before moving to Toronto, Dr. Rodriguez practiced as a general cardiologist in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he was also an associate professor of Internal Medicine/Cardiology and Physiology and Pathophysiology at the University of Manitoba. For several years, he also lead the program of Translational Cardiology at St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre.

Dr. Rodriguez graduated from the Faculty of Medical Sciences “Mariana Grajales Coello” and Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba, obtaining a MD degree in 1996. He completed a residency in Cardiology at the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin from 1996-2000. Subsequently, he completed his Ph.D. (cardiovascular medicine) at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba. In 2004, he received a Second Degree Specialization in Critical Care Medicine.

Dr. Rodriguez joined the Section of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin in 2000. From 2000 to 2021, he was faculty member and associate professor of Internal Medicine. In 2015, Dr. Rodriguez was appointed as Professor of Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Also in 2015, Dr. Rodriguez was appointed as Associated Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology and the Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He is also Principal Investigator of the Cardiology Translational Program as a member of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. He has extensively published in high impact medical journals and has been granted with several research grants.

Dr. Rodriguez is a cardiologist with special interest in general/clinical cardiology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Fellow of the American Heart Association.

Dr. Luis Noronha, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Luis Noronha obtained his Medical Degree at the University of Toronto, where he also completed specialty training in Internal Medicine. Additionally, he completed fellowship training in Cardiology and Diabetes.

Dr. Noronha has sat on multiple advisory boards for pharmaceutical companies. He has given numerous lectures in the areas of diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease and cardiovascular management. He is currently Medical Director at the Cardiology Diagnostic Treatment Centre and the Diabetes and Hypertension Unit in Toronto.

Dr. Mansoor Husain,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Mansoor Husain, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Mansoor Husain is Executive Director of the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also the Attending Staff Cardiologist at University Health Network.

Dr. Husain completed post-doctoral research training in the Program of Excellence in Cardiovascular Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research is focused on the molecular bases of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis and heart failure, with a particular emphasis on identifying therapeutic targets involved in pathophysiology. Dr. Husain’s research has improved our understanding in two areas of cardiovascular medicine: (1) the molecular regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell biology and (2) the cardiovascular mechanisms of glucagon-like peptide-1 and related anti-diabetic drugs.

Dr. Mark Iwanochko,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Mark Iwanochko, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Mark Iwanochko is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Toronto. He is Medical Director of the Robert J. Burns Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory, and the Centre of Excellence in Nuclear Cardiology at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre. He is also Medical Director for Cardiac Ambulatory Care at the University Health Network, Site Director for Cardiology at the Toronto Western Hospital and Medical Director of Ambulatory Care at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre.

Dr. Iwanochko is trained in Nuclear Cardiology (1997) and is a Diplomate in the Sub-Specialty of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC.) He is the Ontario PI for the Canadian Fabrys Disease Initiative.

His areas of interest include clinical trials, and outcomes research in cardiac imaging. Cardiac involvement in patients with Fabry’s disease.

Dr. Masina Wright, MD

Dr. Masina Wright has a passion for Internal Medicine and complex patient care. Her love of cardiology includes treatment of difficult to manage hypertension, guideline directed medical therapy for congestive heart failure and coronary arterial disease for all genders.

Dr. Wright recently moved back to Toronto to be closer to her family. She completed her medical training at the University of New England in Maine and her Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship at the University of New Mexico and the Raymond Murphy Veterans Health Center in Albuquerque. She advocates for patient-centered care and physician wellness. When not seeing patients, Dr. Wright is the Chair of the Nutrition Committee for the American Medical Women’s Association as well as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for ACP Ontario, an Internal Medicine physician group. Dr. Naheed Ali,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Naheed Ali, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Naheed Ali specializes in outpatient cardiology, cardiac imaging, and internal medicine with a special focus on the management of diabetes mellitus.

She received fellowship training in internal medicine and cardiology at McMaster University, University of Western Ontario, and University of Toronto. She completed subspecialty interventional and nuclear cardiology training at the University of Toronto and McMaster University. She is a Diplomate in the subspecialty of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC).

She has held academic positions at several Canadian and American universities including University of Manitoba, Tufts University, and Queens University. She is a former coronary care director at St. Boniface and Kingston General Hospital.

Her strengths lie in providing patient directed, compassionate, and evidence-based care to her patients.

Dr. Paul Kannampuzha, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Paul Kannampuzha is the Chief Cardiology Officer, co-founder and board member at Cardiology Now. Previously, he was the Medical Director of The Trillium Heart Function Clinic and Trillium Cardiac Wellness and Rehabilitation Program. He is the former Medical Director of the Trillium Coronary Care Unit. He attended medical school at the University of Toronto, where he also completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiology fellowships. He enjoys teaching and is involved in cardiology education at the Mississauga Campus of the University of Toronto’s medical school. He is actively involved in CME events for family physicians.

Dr. Pavan Bhat, MD

Dr. Pavan Bhat completed his Internal Medicine residency training with MedStar Health in Maryland, USA. He subsequently completed subspecialty training in Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland followed by fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Inspira Health in New Jersey.

He is American board-certified and CPSO-recognized in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. Pavan is excited to join Cardiology Now and WELL Health Diagnostic Centres to manage patients within the scope of Internal medicine with a special focus in Cardiology. His interests include primary prevention of heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and in the evidence-based care of individuals living with complex chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Russel Fernandes,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Russell Fernandes obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Toronto. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Saskatchewan and Adult Cardiology training at the University of Manitoba. During his cardiology training he was the Chief Resident and also the recipient of the Sanofi Heart and Stroke Foundation Cardiology Award.

Dr. Fernandes was interested in echocardiography during his cardiology training. He pursued advanced training in level 3 echocardiography at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. His fellowship training included transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography. His clinical interests include primary prevention, heart failure and valvular heart disease.

Dr. Sarah Ahmad,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Sarah Ahmad obtained her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine in 2016. She went on to complete her Internal medicine residency training at Georgetown University. Subsequently, she completed a Cardiac Imaging fellowship at Peter Munk Cardiac Center at the University of Toronto.

With her diverse background and educational experiences, Dr. Ahmad will join the team to manage patients within the scope of Internal medicine with a special focus in Cardiology. Dr. Ahmad’s practice focuses on the care of individuals living with complex chronic medical conditions. Her clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension, primary prevention of coronary artery disease, echocardiography, stress echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Ahmad is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate and patient-centered care.

Dr. Soohun Chun,  MD, FRCPC

Dr. Soohun Chun, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Soohun Chun is a Cardiologist at Women’s College Hospital and University Health Network. He is Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Soohun Chun has a large clinical practice, managing patients with all forms of cardiac disease. His expertise within Cardiology is in adult echocardiography including advanced transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), 3-D and myocardial strain assessment, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), periprocedural TEE and stress echocardiography.

Dr. Chun’s current research/educational interests include development of a competency based echocardiographic training program for cardiology trainees and development of a formal echocardiographic training program for ICU fellows. He is a dedicated teacher and is expanding his credentials as an educator by currently completing his Master’s in Education at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Stephen Brazeau, MD, FRCPC, DipABLM

Dr. Brazeau obtained his medical degree from the University of Calgary. He completed post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at Western University and Cardiology Fellowship training at the University of Alberta. He also completed a research fellowship in heart failure and exercise physiology at the University of Toronto. Most recently he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Brazeau has practiced medicine in Brampton and the Greater Toronto Area for over 25 years.  His clinical interests include general cardiology, risk reduction and lifestyle medicine. He is described by his patients and colleagues as kind, a good listener, approachable, empathic, knowledgeable, thorough and professional.

Dr. Brazeau is an avid runner, cyclist, swimmer, skier and cook.

Dr. Sunny Vikrum Malhotra is American Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He has received many honours, including the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022 NY Times SuperDoctors Rising Stars, and NY Top Doctors.

Dr. Malhotra’s clinical interests include Rapid Angina Clinic, General Cardiology, Arrhythmias, Coronary Artery Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Lipidology, Heart Failure, Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Sports Cardiology.

Setareh Mortazavi,  BSC, RCT, Director

Setareh Mortazavi, BSC, RCT, Director

Setareh Mortazavi has over a decade of experience as a clinical lab and Cardiology Technologist in various hospitals and Independent Health Care Facilities within Canada and the United States.

Setareh joined WELL Health Diagnostic Centres (Previously MyHealth Centre) in 2013 as a Cardiology Technologist. She has held various leadership responsibilities for cardiology diagnostics and practice management within WELL Health Diagnostic Centres (Previously MyHealth Centre) since 2015.

In May 2020, Setareh was promoted as Director of Cardiology Now, where her experience and exemplary leadership qualities in healthcare will help provide quality and prompt virtual patient care to the communities across Ontario.
